bio

Background

I am a Colorado transplant from New Jersey via Abu Dhabi, D.C. and California. I've worked on political campaigns, owned my own design business, and developed webapps back when they were just called "websites." (I also worked at In-N-Out, if that means something to you). I have a creative, strategic, and technical background, and so far, I haven't found any company or industry that values that combination more than the modern brand consultancy.

I believe that passionate curiosity and empathy are my greatest assets, and they have driven my path through life.

Work

I aggressively update my LinkedIn profile with professional information, awards, affiliations, and the like. I highly suggest you check it out.

Dylan Thomas on LinkedIn

As Technologist at Vladimir Jones, and Digital Project Manager before that, I am charged with realizing medium- to large-scale digital projects and keeping us on the cutting edge of technology. That mostly includes technology selection, coaching for clients and internal teams, and prototyping the near-future for evaluation.

As Digital & Strategy Director for Rassak Experience, I worked primarily with new brands on positioning, innovation, and product development. The things that were the most exciting for me were product projects in the education, mobile, and non-profit spaces because they lay at the nexus of great work and doing good.

My team spanned 2 - 12 timezones, so cross-town and cross-continent collaboration are nothing new to me, but nothing beats a room full of people and a whiteboard.

Philosophy of Work
  • Iterate and Dominate.
  • Have beliefs, but relate unselfishly to people in their own context. You learn more, they respect you more, and everyone has more fun that way.
  • The more you understand something, the more that you can do it, the better you can delegate it, manage it, and jump in to help if needed.
My very short TV career

My partner from Miami Ad School and I were on the only episode of AD FIGHT, the Oxygen Network's advertising-based reality tv show produced by Reveille Productions. That experience taught me more about the entertainment industry than anything else could have.

Open Source Tools I've Developed

    View on GitHub.
  • QuickTime-FinderMeta
A small app and script that will take the quicktime attributes accessible in the Mac Finder's "Get Info" function and put it into the Spotlight comments, making it searchable and sortable.
